Sen. Abubakar Maikafi was born on the 7 January 1955 in Liman Katagun, Bauchi State. He attended Kobi primary School in 1964. He then preceded Government secondry school, Bauchi where he obtained his WASSCE In 1975. He attended school of basic studies Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he obtained IJMB testimonial and a B.Sc. Agric Economics from 1975 to 1979.He completed his national youth service corp with Niger River Basin Authority as an extension officer in New Bussa from 1979 to 1980.Senator Maikafi worked for different banks in Nigeria from 1980 to 2000 when he was appointed as Managing director/Chief Executive officer of Inland bank of Nigeria. He voluntarily resigned as MD/CEO of Inland Bank Nigeria plc in February 2003 to join active politics. Maikafi was elected into the senate of the fedral republic of Nigeria on 12th april, 2003 to represent the good people of Bauchi south senatorial district. He served as the chairman senate committee on appropriation, and member committee on local and foreign debt, power and steel, environment and ethics and public relations. Since leaving the senate in 2007 Sen Maikafi has been busy developing his 90 hecters farm land in Bauchi State.
